Caretaker/Facilities Officer - North London

Morgan Hunt is recruiting for Caretaker/Facilities Officer to work with a FE College based in North London on a temporary basis. The details of the job are below:

Caretaker/Facilities Officer

Hours: 36 hours 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4pm - Mon to Fri

Pay Rate: £18ph Ltd

Location: North London

Duration: 6 months on going contract

Enhanced DBS Required or willing to undertake DBS

PURPOSE OF POST: To support learning and teaching by providing a facility that is clean, well maintained and safe for all users of the property.

Job Role

1.1 Report on any cleaning issues and concerns to the Facilities Manager.



1.2 To sweep leaves and rubbish, and to litter pick every morning of all outside spaces including in greenery, car parks and pathways. To monitor and carry out task throughout the day as needed.



1.3 To empty all external bins every morning and throughout the day as needed.



1.4 To jet wash grounds, furniture and fixings as and when required.



1.5 Monitor and supervise contractors whilst on site and ensure appropriate work permits are issued.



1.6 To carry out small scale repair and maintenance tasks for example painting, minor plumbing, tiling, carpentry etc. This includes responding to help-desk facilities requests in a timely and effective manner.



1.7 To utilise any trade skills held in the course of the work when required.



1.8 Cleaning and tidying tasks including grounds maintenance.



1.9 Identifying failed equipment and furniture for repair, sale or disposal.



1.10 To make safe any emergencies that require other trades i.e. plumbing and electrical.

1.11 Operating the disposal systems including segregating materials no longer required by the college for sale, donation, recycling or general waste.



1.12 To ensure all waste, including chemical and electronics, is disposed of in accordance with current legislation and in the safe manner and in line with the colleges sustainability policy as directed by the Facilities Manager.



1.13 To regulating the temperature of our buildings by opening and closing windows, checking and operating heating and cooling equipment/ plant, adjusting thermostats, Building Energy Management Systems etc.
