Careers Advisor

Morgan Hunt is working in partnership with a highly respected Further Education College located in Birmingham. They are seeking a Careers Advisor to join their student services team.

The Role

Provide high-quality career information, advice, and guidance to prospective students, current students, and staff. Use one‑to‑one interviews and group sessions covering all aspects of careers development to help individuals realise their full potential.

Assist with the daily operation of Student Services, offering front‑line support to students who need general advice, guidance, or assistance across a wide range of issues.

Responsibilities:

· Provide appropriate one-to-one careers guidance to students for employment, education and training.
· To provide initial information and advice on all support services, to include the admissions process, welfare advice, and additional support.
· Prepare and deliver group work to students on topics including employability/job search skills, progression routes and higher education.
· To contribute to the development and delivery of careers education in the college.
· To promote Careers and other Student Services events to support the College in responding to the needs of students.
· Ensure that careers resources are comprehensive and kept fully up to date.
· Contribute to developing and maintaining links with external agencies.
· Develop personal knowledge of education, employment and training opportunities available to clients, particularly within the college.
· Ensure the maintenance of appropriate records and make full use of appropriate computerised systems in relation to the above duties.
· Assist in marketing events and exhibitions.
· Keep accurate and up-to-date records of interactions with individual students on a confidential database.
· To provide regular statistics and contribute to regular reports on the service.

Education, Skills and Requirements:

· Level 6 qualification in Careers
· Experience of working in Careers in further education/post 16 - FE Sector
· Good knowledge of careers related IT applications
· Able to work independently as well as part of a team
· Experience of working to pressure and tight deadlines
· Right to Work & Enhanced Child DBS on the update service
