LGBT+ Independent Sexual Violence Advocate
Galop is the UK's leading LGBT+ anti-abuse charity, run by and for LGBT+ people. We are recruiting an Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) to support LGBT+ victims and survivors of sexual violence.
You will provide trauma-informed, person-centred advocacy, supporting LGBT+ survivors to understand their options, navigate the criminal and civil justice systems, access services, and rebuild safety and wellbeing. This role is about empowerment, choice and compassion, working at the pace set by the survivor.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of LGBT+ survivors of sexual violence
- Provide emotional support, practical advice and advocacy
- Support clients through criminal and civil justice processes
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure joined-up support
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with GDPR and funder requirements
About you
- Experience supporting survivors of sexual violence or abuse
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and empowerment-based practice
- Commitment to inclusive, affirming support for LGBT+ people from diverse backgrounds
- Confident working with complex, sensitive cases while maintaining boundaries and self-care
