Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester
Hourly Rate: £17 - £18 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: Part time (25 hours per week) - Monday, Tuesday and Saturday
Contract: Temporary
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and resilient Domestic Abuse Support Worker for our client, a dedicated domestic abuse charity in Wigan. You will provide high-quality, trauma-informed support to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, helping them to increase safety, rebuild confidence, and move towards independent living.
The role - Domestic Abuse Support Worker
- Provide one to one practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse.
- Carry out risk and needs assessments, including safety planning.
- Manage a caseload and maintain accurate, confidential records.
- Advocate on behalf of service users with external agencies (e.g. housing, police, social care).
- Support clients in accessing accommodation, benefits, legal advice, and other specialist services.
- Facilitate group support sessions and awareness workshops where appropriate.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with vulnerable adults or families (experience in domestic abuse services desirable).
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of domestic abuse, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice.
- Is confident carrying out risk assessments and safety planning.
- Has excellent communication and advocacy skills.
- Can work independently and as part of a multi - agency team.
- Is resilient, empathetic, and non - judgmental.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle (desirable).
