The client
Morgan Hunt is currently supporting a number of homelessness prevention organisations who are looking to recruit Young Persons Support Workers across Manchester.
The prevention programmes are designed to support young people at risk of experiencing homelessness before they reach crisis point. Coaching enables young people to overcome any challenges that are impacting their accommodation.
The role - Young Persons Support Worker
- Supporting people in a positive way by focusing on their wellbeing and personal development.
- Equipping young people with the skills and confidence to progress into independent lifestyles.
- Preparing and developing individual outcome-based support plans.
- Promoting wellbeing by providing access to mental health support, referring into local and regional specialist services.
- Liaising with other professional agencies and internal teams to identify future housing options, training, education, and employment opportunities.
- Ensuring that individuals understand financial management in preparation for independent living. Including focus on rent payments and budget creation.
- Ensuring that individuals are safe, inspired and engaged to reach goals they have set for themselves.
The candidate
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people or within a similar sector i.e. housing and to understand the bigger picture - understand systematic barriers and identify ways to overcome them.
- Highly organised, proactive and committed to supporting young people.
- An excellent communicator with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Able to work in a team and empower others.
- Able to take responsibility and ownership for work and tasks set.
- Able to work with high levels of empathy.
