Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) working with the LGBT Community
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our team, supporting LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse and violence. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to people's lives by providing trauma-informed, empowerment-based, and person-centred support.
About the Role
As an IDVA, you will work directly with LGBT+ survivors across London, helping them to feel supported, heard, and empowered in the face of domestic abuse and violence. You will:
- Provide practical and emotional support to survivors, tailored to their needs.
- Act as a trusted point of contact, advocating on behalf of clients with agencies and services.
- Build strong partnerships with statutory and voluntary organisations to ensure survivors receive joined-up, holistic care.
- Maintain accurate records, contribute to monitoring and evaluation, and support the development of inclusive, survivor-led services.
About You
We're looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and committed to supporting LGBT+ survivors. You'll bring:
- Experience of supporting survivors of domestic violence (paid or voluntary).
- A strong understanding of the experiences and barriers faced by LGBT+ people.
- Knowledge of safeguarding best practice for children and adults at risk.
- The ability to manage a caseload, prioritise under pressure, and maintain professional boundaries.
- A collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
A relevant qualification (e.g. ISVA, IDVA) is essential. We welcome applications from people with transferable skills and lived experience.
What We Offer
- A supportive, inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated.
- Hybrid working (home and London office).
- Full-time hours: 35 per week.
- Ongoing training, supervision, and professional development.
If you are committed to empowering survivors of domestic violence and want to help create safer futures for LGBT+ communities, we'd love to hear from you.
