We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Motor Vehicle Lecturer to join our successful Engineering and Motor Vehicle department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive professional or qualified lecturer who is passionate about developing the next generation of motor vehicle technicians.
You will deliver engaging and practical teaching across Motor Vehicle programmes from Level 1 to Level 3, helping learners develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours required for a successful career in the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching and practical workshops across Motor Vehicle programmes (Levels 1-3).
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet awarding body requirements.
- Assess learner progress through practical observations, assignments and examinations.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and support learners to achieve their full potential.
- Maintain accurate learner records, attendance and assessment documentation.
- Support learners with tutorials, pastoral care and progression planning.
- Ensure workshop environments comply with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain and develop industry-standard practical resources and equipment.
- Participate in curriculum development, quality improvement activities and departmental meetings.
- Build positive relationships with employers to enhance learner employability and industry engagement.
About You
You will have:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in Motor Vehicle, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline.
- Recent industry experience within the automotive or motor vehicle sector.
- Experience teaching or training Level 1-3 learners (desirable).
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A commitment to delivering an outstanding learner experience.
- Strong knowledge of current automotive technologies and workshop practices.
- The ability to motivate and inspire learners from diverse backgrounds.
Desirable
- Assessor and/or Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualifications.
- Experience delivering City & Guilds, IMI, BTEC or other vocational qualifications.
- Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle technologies.
- Experience working within a Further Education environment.
