
Finance Assistant
Finance Assistant will be working for a leading higher education institution with an excellent reputation for academic excellence and innovation.
The role
Finance Assistant is part of the payments team and will be engaged in these activities helping to ensure that all transactions are made in accordance with the higher education's financial regulations and audit controls.
Main Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely payments and resolving supplier queries.
- Manage payment runs, including BACS, foreign currency, cheque, and student payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial procedures.
- Reconcile supplier statements, monitor failed transactions, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Process staff expenses, travel claims, and payment requests in line with organisational policies.
- Support the wider finance team by maintaining payment procedures, assisting with year-end activities, and providing training and cover for colleagues.
Skills and qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification or experience (including Maths and English)
- Sound IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
- Pays close attention to detail
- Ability to work confidently within controls and procedures
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
