We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Student Support & Safeguarding Coordinator to join a welcoming and inclusive Further Education college in the Essex area this September.

The Opportunity
As a Student Support & Safeguarding Coordinator, you'll play a vital role in promoting learner wellbeing and ensuring safeguarding concerns are managed effectively and sensitively.
Working closely with learners, teaching staff, parents, carers, and external agencies, you'll help coordinate support plans, respond to safeguarding concerns, and contribute to a positive college culture where learners feel safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing and responding to safeguarding concerns, disclosures, and referrals
- Supporting learners with wellbeing, welfare, attendance, and personal development needs
- Working closely with designated safeguarding leads and wider student support teams
- Liaising with parents, carers, local authorities, social care teams, and external agencies
- Maintaining accurate safeguarding records, case notes, and documentation
- Coordinating support plans and interventions for learners requiring additional support
- Supporting safeguarding investigations, risk assessments, and action plans where appropriate
- Promoting safeguarding awareness and wellbeing initiatives across the college
- Providing advice and guidance to staff and learners on safeguarding and student welfare matters
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within safeguarding, pastoral support, student services, welfare, youth work, education, or a related field
- Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
- Experience working with young people or vulnerable adults
- Strong organisational, administrative, and record-keeping skills
- A genuine commitment to supporting learner wellbeing and positive outcomes
