The Role

As a Lecturer in Agriculture, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical learning experiences to students across a range of agricultural programmes.

You will play a key role in supporting learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for successful careers within the agricultural sector. In addition to teaching responsibilities, you will contribute to course development, quality assurance activities, and student support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality teaching, training, and assessment across agricultural programmes.
  • Supporting students to achieve their full potential through engaging classroom and practical learning.
  • Acting as a course tutor and providing academic support and guidance to learners.
  • Developing and reviewing agricultural curriculum content to reflect industry developments.
  • Participating in internal verification, auditing, and quality assurance processes.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and monitoring learner progress.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the student experience.
  • Supporting the delivery of programmes to additional client groups where required.

Facilities and Resources

The agricultural provision benefits from a wide range of commercial and practical resources, including:

  • Approximately 500 hectares of commercially farmed land.
  • Arable enterprises producing crops such as wheat, oats, oilseed rape, and grass.
  • Sheep and beef livestock enterprises.
  • Modern agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Specialist workshops for machinery maintenance and training.

About You

We are seeking a passionate agricultural professional who is committed to developing future talent within the industry.

The successful candidate will possess:

Essential Requirements

  • HNC qualification in Agriculture or a related discipline, or equivalent vocational experience.
  • Sound knowledge of agriculture, ideally including arable farming, livestock management, and agricultural machinery.
  • A genuine passion for farming and awareness of current and emerging industry developments.
  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
  • Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring experience.
  • Relevant industry qualifications, including:
    • NPTC Tractor Proficiency
    • PA Spraying Certificates
    • Safe Telehandler Operation Certificates
  • A recognised teaching qualification.

Teaching Qualification

Applicants should hold a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards and achieve a Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Certificate in Education).
