
Electrical Design Engineer Building Services

A well-established, director-owned building services consultancy based in Glasgow, delivering high-quality M&E design solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will work closely with clients, architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and other design professionals to develop practical, energy-efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
Role
- Produce electrical designs for building services projects from concept through to detailed design.
- Undertake electrical calculations, sizing and technical assessments.
- Develop electrical schematics, layouts, specifications and design documentation.
- Design systems including lighting, small power, LV distribution, fire alarm, emergency lighting, containment, earthing and lightning protection.
- Liaise with clients, architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.
- Attend design meetings, site visits and project inspections where required.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance.
Qualifications / Experience
- A degree/HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Previous experience in electrical building services design.
- Good knowledge of relevant British Standards, IET regulations and Building Regulations.
- Experience using AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
- Experience with electrical design software and calculation packages such as Amtech, Dialux, Electrical OM
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage your own workload and meet project deadlines.
