Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, Luton, Bedfordshire

Do you know how to engage, motivate and support people through drug and alcohol recovery? We are looking for an experienced Recovery Worker to join a substance misuse service in Luton, providing front-line support to individuals affected by drug and alcohol dependency.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in substance misuse who enjoys working directly with service users, managing their own caseload and helping people achieve positive, lasting outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Recovery Worker include:

• Managing a caseload of individuals accessing drug and alcohol treatment services
• Building positive relationships with service users to encourage engagement and progress
• Completing comprehensive assessments and developing individual recovery plans
• Delivering structured 1:1 keyworking sessions and recovery-focused interventions
• Providing harm reduction advice, relapse prevention and motivational support
• Identifying risks and supporting individuals with complex needs
• Coordinating referrals into detox, rehabilitation, healthcare and wider support services
• Working alongside clinical teams and partner agencies to deliver joined-up support

Candidates for the Recovery Worker role will need:

• Previous direct experience in a substance misuse recovery role is essential
• Experience managing caseloads and delivering structured recovery interventions
• Good understanding of drug and alcohol treatment pathways, harm reduction and safeguarding
• Strong assessment, risk management and case recording skills
• Ability to build trust and engage individuals who may be reluctant to access support
• A confident, adaptable and non-judgemental approach
