The role:

  • Procurement of contracts within your category portfolio in accordance with legislation, Contract Standing Orders and procurement best practice
  • Prepare contract strategy documents, tender documentation, publications of notices, deal with queries arising from the process, chair-relating meetings, prepare contract award documentation and debrief suppliers
  • Develop, in cooperation with the services, a contract strategy document for the sourcing of goods, works, services, and lead the end-to-end tendering process using an online tendering platform
  • Meet with internal stakeholders and departmental procurement champions to discuss their needs and identify opportunities for new contracts and collaboration
  • Develop a tender plan and report on the progress being made
  • Increase market knowledge and awareness through attendance at supplier development forums, events and contract specific meet the buyer seminars
  • Use your knowledge and expertise to assist services in developing, and challenging, specifications and to promote both sustainable specifications, community benefits, streamlined purchase to pay and fair work practices
  • Work with departmental procuring officers to forecast and track usage/spend against identified contracts and report as part of the benefits tracking process
  • Deliver procurement induction training to departmental officers and ad-hoc training requirements
  • Actively participate in change programmes and to provide support and guidance on procurement aspects
  • Working with the Supplier Development Programme, Economic Development, local businesses, third sector and supported businesses to increase their awareness of procurement opportunities and bidding techniques
  • To support services with supplier and contract management ensuring procedures are followed, collate supplier performance data, benchmark performance and report to the appropriate stakeholders
  • Represent Corporate Procurement at internal and external meetings.

The role:

  • Contribute to leadership, vision and strategic direction for procurement to areas assigned
