Job Role
The Head of Safety, Effectiveness & Compliance is a pivotal leadership role within the Clinical Governance structure, accountable for driving and embedding a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Working with the Associate Director of Clinical Governance & Quality, the candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Trust's Clinical Governance and Health & Safety strategy and the processes, systems, training, enabling tools required to implement and embed practice, to ensure the Trust complies with statutory, regulatory, and national quality standards.
The candidate is expected to have significant experience of working in a senior management position in a complex healthcare organisation. The candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of clinical governance, the requirements of our regulators, particularly the Care Quality Commission and the Health & Safety Executive, and NHS national and local agendas. The candidate will need to be a dynamic and transformational leader with experience of developing corporate policy, strategy, and preparing Board level assurance reports.

- Medical Devices Team
The candidate will;
· Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the Trust complies with statutory, regulatory, and national quality standards.
· Lead the continued implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), delivery of a Trust-wide clinical audit & effectiveness programme and Health & Safety legislation.
· Be responsible for ensuring that safety and effectiveness functions are monitored and that they meet regulatory requirements of the CQC, and other bodies.
Ensure there is triangulation of intelligence across governance systems-such as incidents, complaints, audits, mortality reviews, and risks-to identify thematic learning; that these insights are used to drive service improvements and are shared across the Trust through appropriate governance forums, learning networks, and reporting structures.
Oversee the management and optimisation of clinical governance systems, ensuring that the Trust's digital platforms for incident reporting, clinical audit & effectiveness, and learning are fit for purpose and used effectively.
Carry out any other duties that are commensurate with the role, responding to changes within the healthcare landscape.
