I'm recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority searching for a Private Sector Housing Officer.




This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated public sector government team on a short-term contract where your expertise will help improve housing standards and support vulnerable residents to live independently in their homes.




Key notes:

Initial 3-month contract (possible extension)

37hpw | £26.44ph - £33.86ph

3 days in office (minimum)




The role:

As a Private Sector Housing Officer, you will:

· Inspect and assess private rented properties under the Housing Act 2004.

· Process applications for Disabled Facilities Grants and Minor Adaptations.

· Carry out property licensing inspections, assess management standards, and ensure compliance.

· Draft enforcement notices, schedules of work, and prepare cases for tribunal or court when required.

· Provide advice and support to landlords, residents, and partner organisations.

· Manage a varied caseload, delivering high-quality service within tight timescales.



What we're looking for:

· Degree or diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent housing qualification).

· HHSRS assessor training (essential).

· Previous experience in housing inspections, enforcement, or grant/adaptations work.

· Strong knowledge of housing legislation, including the Housing Act 2004 and property licensing.

· Excellent communication, organisational, and case management skills.

· Ability to work independently and proactively within a fast-paced environment.
