LGBTQ + Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA)
Location: London Offices (3 days working from home)
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
Contract Length: 3 months with potential to extend
We are seeking an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to provide specialist, independent support to LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse who are at medium to high risk of harm. This is a temporary post for three months, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of survivors.
Key responsibilities
- Hold a caseload of LGBT+ survivors, providing trauma-informed, person-centred advocacy and support.
- Complete risk and needs assessments, safety planning, and ongoing case management.
- Advocate for clients within safeguarding, MARAC, housing, health, criminal justice, and other multi-agency settings.
- Maintain accurate and high-quality case records, data monitoring, and reporting through Salesforce CRM.
Skills & experience
- Experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse, ideally as an IDVA or in an equivalent role.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and multi-agency working.
- Excellent advocacy skills, with familiarity across housing, legal, and welfare systems.
- Commitment to inclusive, by-and-for services, with an understanding of the needs and barriers faced by LGBT+ survivors.
- Safe Lives IDVA qualification desirable but not essential.
