Are you a talented communicator with a passion for media relations and making a difference in mental health and public wellbeing?
An established national membership body within the health and professional sector is seeking a Media and Communications Officer to join its busy and collaborative Strategic Communications team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and organised communications professional looking to broaden their experience across media, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement within a respected, purpose-driven organisation.
The Role
Working as part of a small, dynamic external affairs team, you'll:
Respond to media enquiries and help promote key messages through press releases, statements, and feature articles.
Support the development of proactive media campaigns and digital content that raise awareness of important social and health issues.
Contribute to social media activity and day-to-day news monitoring.
Assist in preparing parliamentary updates, briefings, and stakeholder communications.
Help organise media and public events, from press conferences to parliamentary receptions.
You'll play a hands-on role in shaping the public conversation on issues that matter - supporting colleagues across communications, policy, and external relations.
About You
You'll bring:
Experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or public affairs.
Excellent writing skills and an ability to craft clear, accurate content under pressure.
A keen understanding of current affairs and the UK media landscape.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
Confidence working collaboratively and building relationships with journalists and stakeholders.
A proactive, creative mindset - someone who enjoys spotting stories and opportunities.
Experience in health, mental health, or public sector communications is desirable but not essential.

- 6 month contract paying £21.08-£22.58 per hour.
