The Opportunity

A large national transport organisation is looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.

This is a key post within the Financial Accounting team, offering the chance to own year-end, lead the audit, and ensure statutory reporting accuracy.

You'll work alongside the Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Controller, supported by two graduate apprentices. The team is collaborative, fast-moving and ideal for someone who enjoys variety and taking initiative.

Key Priorities

• Lead the external audit - plan, coordinate and deliver.

• Provide technical accounting support across IFRS, tax, payroll and HMRC compliance.

• Improve financial controls and reporting processes.

• Adapt to ad-hoc work within a busy finance function.

• Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ICAS / ACCA / CIMA).

• Background in audit or financial accounting, ideally with year-end experience.

• Understanding of IFRS, VAT, tax and payroll, or ability to learn quickly.

• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

• Adaptable, proactive and confident communicator.
