
Outreach Worker
We are currently recruiting a resilient and compassionate Outreach Worker to join a frontline homelessness service in Camden. This role involves engaging with individuals sleeping rough and supporting them into safer, stable accommodation and recovery pathways. You will be working with clients facing multiple disadvantages including homelessness, substance misuse, mental health issues, trauma, and criminal justice involvement.
Location: East London
Contract: Temporary (Approx. 2-3 months)
Pay: £17.88 per hour PAYE (inc. holiday pay)
Hours: Early shifts (6am-2pm), late shifts (until 9/10pm), occasional weekends + 1 night shift every 3 months
Start: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage and build trust with rough sleepers across Camden
- Conduct street-based assessments and follow-up casework
- Work in partnership with local homeless services, police, wardens, and support agencies
- Support clients into temporary accommodation and essential services
- Complete assessments, risk plans, recovery plans and referrals
- Reduce substance-related harm and promote safety and wellbeing
- Support access to housing, healthcare, benefits, and recovery services
- Participate in early morning, late evening, weekend, and occasional night outreach shifts
Requirements:
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults or people with complex needs
- Knowledge of homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, or criminal justice pathways
- Strong engagement and communication skills
- Ability to lone work safely and conduct outdoor shifts in all weather
- Confident multi-agency working
- Resilience, professionalism, and a compassionate approach
