Role: Lead Worker

Location: City of London

Pay: £17.15 - £17.90 per hour + HP

Duration: Approximately 8 weeks (with potential to extend)

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00 (flexibility to work occasional shifts welcomed but not essential)

About the Role

This is a specialist outreach leadership role focusing on tents and encampments across the City of London. The post holder will take the lead on coordinating responses at three key encampment sites, ensuring effective, informed and compassionate engagement with people sleeping rough.

You will play a central role in high-level multi-agency working, liaising with commissioners, police, local authorities and partner organisations, while providing on-the-ground leadership and guidance to Outreach Workers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on all work related to encampments and tented sites across the City
• Act as a key point of contact for commissioners, police and partner agencies
• Provide support, guidance and leadership to Outreach Workers
• Make confident, informed decisions on site, often in complex and fast-moving situations
• Coordinate multi-agency responses and ensure effective information sharing
• Maintain accurate digital records and reports using relevant systems
• Support engagement with rough sleepers and ensure appropriate pathways into support

Essential Experience & Skills

• Strong experience in homelessness outreach, particularly encampments and rough sleeping
• Proven ability to work confidently in high-risk or complex on-street environments
• Extensive experience of multi-agency working
• Strong digital literacy and confidence using case management systems
• Ability to lead, influence and coordinate across organisations
• Excellent communication and decision-making skills

Desirable

• Experience working closely with police and local authority commissioners
• Flexibility to occasionally work shifts outside standard hours
