Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chemistry Lecturer to join a reputable college in North London on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire and support learners studying Chemistry across a range of levels.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching across Chemistry courses (e.g., GCSE, A-Level, or BTEC Applied Science)
Plan engaging and interactive lessons aligned with curriculum and awarding body requirements
Support learners in developing theoretical understanding and practical laboratory skills
Prepare and supervise laboratory experiments in line with health and safety regulations
Assess, mark, and provide constructive feedback on assignments and coursework
Monitor learner progress and implement targeted support where required
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement
Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes
Support learners in progressing to higher education, apprenticeships, or careers in STEM fields
Requirements
Relevant qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific field (Degree required)
Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one
Experience teaching Chemistry in a Further Education or similar setting
Strong subject knowledge across key areas of Chemistry (e.g., organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry)
Understanding of laboratory health and safety standards
Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills
Ability to motivate and support learners from a range of backgrounds
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
