We are delighted to be supporting a well-regarded Further Education college in Northamptonshire in the recruitment of a hands-on and enthusiastic Land-Based / Countryside Technician.
This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about the outdoors, land management and conservation to play a key role in supporting both the estate and student learning.
✨ About the Role
As a Land-Based / Countryside Technician, you will support the maintenance and development of the college's land-based facilities, ensuring they are safe, functional and provide an excellent learning environment.
You will work across a variety of outdoor settings, assisting with practical activities and helping students gain real-world experience in countryside management.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance of land-based areas including woodlands, paddocks and green spaces
- Assist with practical land management tasks such as fencing, grounds maintenance and habitat work
- Maintain tools, machinery and equipment to a high standard
- Support teaching staff with practical sessions and student activities
- Ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times
- Assist in the preparation of resources and materials for lessons
- Contribute to the upkeep and development of outdoor learning environments
- Support college events and practical demonstrations where required
👤 About You
You will be a practical and proactive individual who enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions.
You'll have a genuine interest in countryside management, conservation or land-based industries, alongside a willingness to support students and share your knowledge.
You'll be organised, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
✅ Essential Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Experience working in a land-based, outdoor or countryside environment
- Knowledge of health and safety within a practical setting
- Ability to carry out manual and practical tasks
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
➕ Desirable
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Countryside Management, Agriculture or a related subject
- Experience working in an educational or training environment
- Experience maintaining equipment or machinery
