Role Overview

The Progression Coach supports individuals affected by homelessness and social exclusion to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to achieve sustainable personal outcomes. Working closely with Housing and Support teams, the Progression Coach delivers tailored coaching, activities, and development opportunities that help clients overcome barriers and move toward their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver progression activities, workshops, and events that meet the needs and aspirations of clients.
  • Assess client strengths, needs, and goals in partnership with Housing and Support staff.
  • Develop and implement personalised progression plans and monitor client progress.
  • Provide one-to-one coaching, guidance, motivation, and practical support.
  • Help clients access education, training, volunteering, employment, and community opportunities.
  • Build positive relationships with clients, encouraging engagement and sustained participation.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships with external agencies, employers, training providers, and community organisations.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes, and outcome data in line with organisational policies.
  • Contribute to service monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and promote the wellbeing and safety of all clients.

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, including homelessness, social exclusion, mental health challenges, or other vulnerabilities.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate, empower, and engage individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and the challenges faced by vulnerable adults.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems creatively.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel between sites as required.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience delivering employability, life-skills, or personal development programmes.
  • Knowledge of local support services, housing pathways, and community resources.
  • Relevant qualification in coaching, advice and guidance, social care, youth work, housing, or a related field.
