The Role
As a Construction Lecturer, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality teaching across construction programmes.
- Planning and preparing engaging practical and theory-based lessons.
- Assessing learner work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and implementing strategies to improve achievement.
- Promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to develop and enhance the construction curriculum.
- Maintaining accurate learner records and meeting awarding body requirements.
- Preparing learners for employment and progression within the construction industry.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DET, DTLLS, QTS or QTLS (or willingness to work towards one).
- Relevant industry qualifications and occupational experience within one or more of the following areas:
- Plumbing & Heating
- Bricklaying
- Plastering
- Joinery
- Multi-Skills Construction
- Electrical Installation
- Experience teaching, assessing, or training within Further Education, apprenticeships, or workplace learning environments.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- A genuine passion for education and helping learners achieve their full potential.
- Knowledge of current industry standards, regulations, and health & safety requirements.
