This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in improving learner attendance, supporting student wellbeing, and helping learners stay engaged with their education.

The Opportunity

As an Attendance Improvement Officer, you'll work closely with students, curriculum teams, pastoral staff, and support services to identify attendance concerns and develop effective strategies to encourage consistent participation.

You'll take a proactive approach to understanding the reasons behind poor attendance, providing guidance and support to learners, and helping create a positive culture where students feel motivated and supported to succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working with learners to understand barriers affecting attendance and engagement
  • Developing and implementing targeted attendance improvement strategies
  • Conducting attendance meetings and providing ongoing support to students
  • Building positive relationships with learners, families, and college teams
  • Working collaboratively with tutors, curriculum staff, safeguarding teams, and student services
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records and documenting interventions
  • Supporting learners with personal, social, and educational challenges
  • Referring students to appropriate support services where required
  • Contributing to initiatives that improve retention, achievement, and learner outcomes

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in attendance, learner support, pastoral care, student services, education, or a similar role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to build trust and rapport with young people and adult learners
  • A proactive, supportive, and solution-focused approach
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Confidence handling sensitive conversations and challenging situations
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies
  • Experience within Further Education, schools, colleges, or education settings is desirable

Why Consider an Attendance Improvement Officer Role?

  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to learners' lives
  • Rewarding role focused on improving attendance, engagement, and achievement
  • Work within supportive and inclusive educational environments
  • Develop experience across student support, pastoral care, and learner engagement
  • Play a key role in helping students overcome barriers and achieve their potential
  • Be part of a team committed to creating positive outcomes for learners

If you're passionate about supporting students and helping them succeed, we'd love to hear from you.
