Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Professional Regulatory Body in their search for a temporary Investigation Officer to provide vital support to the Fitness to Practise function. This interim role will help cover a period of absence, offering an immediate start and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in regulatory investigations.



This is a varied and rewarding position where you will be responsible for progressing a caseload of fitness to practise complaints and investigations, ensuring they are managed fairly, proportionately and in line with statutory requirements. From the initial triage and risk assessment stage through to case examiner or committee consideration, you will gather, assess and analyse evidence, engage with registrants, witnesses and legal representatives, and prepare clear, well-reasoned reports. You will also play a key role in supporting hearings, ensuring that documentation is accurate, complete and available to decision-makers in a timely manner.



The successful candidate will be a confident investigator or complaints handler, ideally with experience gained in a regulatory, legal or healthcare environment. You will demonstrate the ability to manage complex and sensitive cases with sound judgement, excellent attention to detail and a focus on achieving high-quality outcomes. Strong written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to explain processes and decisions clearly to a wide range of stakeholders. You should also be highly organised, comfortable working to deadlines, and able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.





Job Title: Investigation Officer

Location: Flexible (Home-based with occasional office attendance)

Daily Rate: £180.00 - £210.00 (Umbrella)

Contract: Temporary (6 months, with potential extension)

Hours: Full-time (34.75 hours per week)

Start Date: ASAP





Key Responsibilities

· Manage a varied caseload of fitness to practise complaints and investigations, ensuring progression in line with performance standards.

· Undertake triage assessments, risk assessments and formal investigations as required.

· Draft clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations for case examiners and committees.

· Prepare and coordinate high-quality documentation for hearings, including liaising with lawyers, registrants, witnesses and other stakeholders.

· Provide clear and accurate updates to all parties, ensuring they are kept informed of case progress and outcomes.

· Maintain accurate records and case data using electronic case management systems.

· Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the team.



Candidate Profile

· Experience of investigations or complaint handling, ideally in a regulatory, legal or healthcare setting.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex processes clearly.

· Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.

· Sound judgement and decision-making, with the ability to present evidence clearly and make fair recommendations.

· Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM/case management systems.

· Customer-focused with the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally and empathetically.
