
Senior Governance Officer
Morgan Hunt are delighted to be working with a Leading Membership Body in their search for a Senior Governance Officer to provide high-quality governance support, focusing on committee management, governance communications, and the delivery of effective governance policies.
This is an excellent opportunity for a governance professional seeking a permanent, part-time role within a respected organisation. You will take ownership of the full committee cycle for two committees, from planning and preparation through to minute-taking, follow-up actions and ongoing member engagement. You will also play a key role in improving governance communication across the organisation, ensuring colleagues, members and other stakeholders are well informed and supported.
A key part of the role will be supporting the effective management of declarations of interest, gifts and hospitality, and related governance policies. You will contribute to strengthening data collection, collation and transparency in this area, ensuring that policies are implemented consistently and effectively.
The successful candidate will bring proven experience in committee or board management, with strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders. You will have a good understanding of the full governance cycle, be confident in drafting high-quality minutes and reports, and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. While experience in the membership or charity sector is welcomed, it is not essential.

Hours: Part-Time (21 or 28 hours per week)
Location, Hours & Salary:
National (Remote or Hybrid)
· 21 Hours = £22,079.36 per annum (pro rata)
· 28 Hours = £29,439.15 per annum (pro rata)
London (2 days per week in office)
· 21 Hours = £24,225.24 per annum (pro rata)
· 28 Hours = £32,300.32 per annum (pro rata)
Key Responsibilities
· Manage the full cycle of governance support for two committees, including planning, agendas, papers, minute-taking and follow-up actions.
· Ensure effective communication with members, colleagues and other stakeholders on governance matters.
· Oversee the register of interests and declarations, including gifts and hospitality, ensuring accuracy, transparency and compliance with policy.
· Support governance-related elections, inductions and training activities.
· Draft and disseminate clear governance communications, ensuring consistency and accessibility.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance processes and procedures.
Candidate Profile
· Proven experience managing committees or boards, ideally with full-cycle responsibility.
· Strong knowledge of governance processes and stakeholder management.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate minutes and reports.
· Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in working with senior stakeholders.
· Flexible, proactive and detail-oriented approach.
