Our client

Morgan Hunt is working with a leading charity who deliver support services to women, men and their families who are affected by domestic abuse, homelessness and young parents across the Northwest. We are currently recruiting for a temporary Domestic Abuse Support Worker for a refuge in Wigan. This is a full-time role initially for 6 - 8 weeks with the potential for extension.

The role

As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will be responsible for;

• Triaging, accepting and actioning new referrals into the service including move in at the refuge and move on to resettlement service.
• Supporting an allocated caseload of clients, assessing the needs and risks of clients and delivering key working sessions.
• Completing DASH risk assessments and reviewing on a regular basis.
• Identifying and making appropriate referrals where necessary and working with relevant agencies in the best interests of clients and their children.
• Recording and managing anti-social behaviour and escalating where necessary.
• Delivering weekly resident meetings and devising groupwork.

The candidate

• Relevant qualification within Domestic Abuse or a relevant field.
• An understanding of individuals and / or families who have or are experiencing domestic abuse.
• Knowledge of working as part of a team as well as working on your own initiative and managing time effectively.
• Knowledge of devising support plans and completing and implementing risk assessments including DASH risk assessments.
• An understanding and experience of working in a trauma informed way to support vulnerable people.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding principles and how to manage safeguarding concerns.
