About the Role

You will carry out thorough, evidence-based assessments with prospective tenants to ensure they are appropriately matched to supported accommodation. Your work will play a vital role in identifying housing-related risks, assessing support needs, and confirming affordability to promote successful tenancy sustainment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete detailed housing-related risk assessments, identifying issues such as arrears, health concerns, safeguarding risks, antisocial behaviour, or property misuse.
  • Conduct needs assessments to determine appropriate levels of housing support.
  • Carry out affordability checks, reviewing income, benefits, and debt to ensure rent sustainability.
  • Produce accurate assessment reports to inform allocations and support planning.
  • Work collaboratively with housing officers, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Identify and escalate safeguarding or high-risk issues in line with policy.
  • Provide clear guidance to applicants on tenancy responsibilities and support options.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with legal and regulatory standards.

About You

Essential:

  • Experience conducting assessments within supported housing, tenancy management, or related services.
  • Strong understanding of tenancy sustainment, affordability, and housing-related risks.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Ability to analyse information and make balanced, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interviewing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and confidence using IT systems.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualification in housing, social care, or related field.
  • Knowledge of housing law, welfare benefits, and supported housing frameworks.
  • Experience working in partnership with local authorities, health, or social services.

If you are organised, compassionate, and committed to supporting individuals into safe and sustainable housing, we would love to hear from you.
