Temporary Contract & Procurement Specialist

Duration: 3 months

Pay: Day Rate Inside IR35, £300 a day

Location: Hybrid working (Edinburgh-based office)

Role Overview

This short-term opportunity focuses on providing hands-on support to a Procurement team, strengthening contract and supplier management practices across a large, complex organisation.




The successful candidate will play a key role in improving the quality, consistency and governance of contract management activity, particularly following recent updates to the contract register and the ongoing development of a structured contract and supplier management framework.




This is a delivery-focused role, offering additional capacity during a defined period, working closely with procurement professionals and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Contract & Supplier Management

  • Provide day-to-day support across a portfolio of live contracts, with particular focus on high-value and complex arrangements.
  • Coordinate and maintain a structured schedule of supplier and contract review meetings, ensuring appropriate prioritisation.
  • Support effective governance by preparing agendas, meeting packs, notes and tracking actions through to completion.

Templates, Guidance & Process Improvement

  • Review, refine and standardise contract and supplier management templates and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all materials align with current procurement policies and best practice, including clear roles, performance management approaches and escalation processes.

Contract Register & Portfolio Review

  • Support a structured review of the contract portfolio following recent updates to the contract register.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure contract records are accurate, complete and consistently maintained.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies or legacy issues within existing records and support their resolution in a systematic and organised way.




Experience:

  • Public Sector Procurement Experience
  • Able to start within 2 weeks
  • Happy to travel hybrid Edinburgh office
