· Experience chairing boards or committees, ensuring clear, inclusive and effective decision-making.
· Strong strategic leadership skills, underpinned by humility, self-reflection and emotional intelligence.
· Excellent collaboration skills, able to listen, encourage and build consensus.
· Understanding of governance, and the distinction between executive and non-executive.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
At NCB, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) are central to who we are and how we work. Our 2024-29 strategy commits us to creating a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging and where our staff better reflect the society we serve. We are also embedding DEI into the way we prioritise and measure the impact of our work. Our Board of Trustees has set out a clear commitment to lead by example, ensuring DEI principles are championed and lived across NCB.
Our mission is to improve the systems that babies, children, young people and families rely on to thrive.
All NCB member organisations are united in pushing boundaries to achieve this common goal. We look:
· beyond symptoms, to the root causes of systemic issues.
· beyond traditional thinking, bringing policy, research and practice together.
· beyond ourselves, to convene alliances for change across society.
· beyond childhood itself, considering how an entire lifespan is affected by the issues we work on.
Why join us?
As Chair, you'll play a key role in guiding NCB's strategy as we develop our life-course approach, supporting our Executive team and ensuring our Board of Trustees continues to deliver the highest standards of governance. You'll be joining an organisation with a proud history of driving change and a clear vision for the future.
If you are ready to make a real difference for babies, children, young people and the adults they become, we would love to hear from you.
