Morgan Hunt is working with a leading charity who are looking to recruit a Children and Family Worker, covering the Wigan area. This a permanent position, working 36 hours per week. Their service provides support to children and families affected by domestic abuse and who are living in safe accommodation including dispersed and core refuge.
As a Children and Family Worker, you will be responsible for.
- Creating a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for children and young people in refuge services.
- Planning and providing one to one and group play sessions for children to develop the skills required to work through their experiences of domestic abuse.
- Providing fun and creative activities for families to build child and parent relationships.
- Supporting positive parenting by providing programmes and support.
- Providing practical information to assist women about local services available for their children.
- Working closely with Domestic Abuse Workers to maintain a multi-agency approach to safeguarding.
- Completing risk assessments and ensure health and safety requirements are met.
The candidate
- NNEB, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Experience of working with children and / or young people.
- Experience of organising play and activities.
- Knowledge of the impact of domestic abuse on young people and families.
- Understanding safeguarding and child protection.
