Role: Co-Located Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

Location: 1 day per week at an NHS partner site, 1 day per week in London office and 3 days WFH

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Contract: 2 month temp role with potential to extend

Salary: £16-21 per hour

About the Role

This is a great opportunity for frontline staff who want to work directly with LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse in a health setting. You will split your time between an NHS partner site and the main office, providing specialist advocacy and support to LGBT+ people affected by domestic abuse.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in partnership working, promote services within clinical settings, and gain experience of supporting survivors within a trauma-informed and empowerment-based framework.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred support to a caseload of LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse.
  • Offer information, advice, and emotional/practical support to help survivors make informed decisions.
  • Help clients navigate criminal and civil justice systems.
  • Work independently within an NHS environment while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS staff and other partner agencies.
  • Attend team meetings at partner sites to promote the service and encourage referrals.
  • Make referrals and signpost clients to housing, welfare, counselling, and other essential services.
  • Safeguard clients through effective communication and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Keep accurate case notes and monitoring data.

About You

We're looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and confident working with LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse.

You should bring:

  • Experience supporting people affected by domestic abuse, violence, or other forms of harm (E)
  • Understanding of the needs and experiences of LGBT+ survivors (E)
  • Experience in advocacy, safeguarding, or frontline support (E)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding processes and multi-agency working (E)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (E)
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities (E)
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred, empowerment-based practice (E)
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with partners and clients (E)
  • Experience in health settings, knowledge of the justice system, or partnership-based working will be beneficial but not essential.
  • You'll need to be comfortable working in an environment where domestic abuse and violence are frequently discussed.
  • Training, supervision, and well-being support will be provided.
